Gyedu earned a spot in the women’s shot put finals after hitting a mark of 15.06m on her third throw of the day. She later moved up in the Cougar record books with a season-best 15.63-meter throw on her second throw in finals, placing sixth overall in the women’s competition.
Louie Hinchliffe won the men’s 100-meter dash with a 10.31 in his finals heat after qualifying in the top spot with a 10.28 in prelims to begin the day.
The men’s 4X100m relay team, with Hinchliffe running the anchor leg, posted a new season-best time of 40.07 to finish second in the event.
As the third night of competition wound down, Alaina Stone Boggs found a new gear in the women’s 5,000-meter elite race with a lifetime-best 16:08.95 to highlight the day for the Washington Sate distance runners.
Alex Payne led the way for WSU at the Bryan Clay as she posted a final mark of 56.07m, less than one meter from another lifetime best, to place fourth in the women’s hammer throw. Her teammates Tara Koonce (54.89m) and Amy Kraemer (50.44m) placed fifth and 19th, respectively, in Friday’s women’s hammer competition.
