GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Six Tigers set top-10 marks on Saturday, including a school record in the men’s 4×400 meter relay to wrap up a successful Tom Jones Invitational. Two of the top-10 times came from the men’s 800 meter run, as Tarees Rhoden and Aman Thornton both set personal bests in the event. The Tigers continued their run of good form this weekend and will be back in action on Saturday, Apr. 22 in Columbia, S.C. for the USC Open.
SATURDAY HIGHLIGHTS
- The team of Tarees Rhoden, De’Andre Anderson, Cameron Rose and Aman Thornton set a school record in the 4×400 meter relay with a time of 3:02.94.
- Tarees Rhoden shot up to No. 2 in school history in the 800 meter run with a time of 1:46.20. He is just 0.73 off catching Kameron Jones for the school record in the event. He finished second in Gainesville.
- Aman Thornton finished third in the 800 meter run and moved up to No. 4 in school history with a personal best time of 1:46.82.
- Oneka Wilson made it onto the top-10 list with a 13.31 second 100 meter hurdles time. She now holds the No. 10 spot in school history.
- Brynne Sumner set the No. 7 time in school history in the 800 meter run with her time of 2:05.45. The mark is not as fast as her indoor personal best of 2:05.29 but still sees her on to the outdoor top-10 list.
- The women’s 4×400 meter relay consisting of KK Gadson, Lashanna Graham, Antoinette Van der Merwe and Courtney Williams set the No. 3 time in school history of 3:32.51.
- Danielle Sloley won the shot put with a 15.99m throw.
- Courtney Williams ran a season best 53.85 in the 400 meter run. She also set a personal best 23.47 in the 200 meter dash on Friday.
- Daniel Cope’s 53.51 meter discus throw was good for second place, while Marie Forbes’s 64.14m hammer throw put her in third place.
FRIDAY HIGHLIGHTS
- Cameron Rose ran a blistering 20.25 in the 200 meter dash. His time was aided by a 2.9 mph wind, but still qualifies for fifth on Clemson’s all-time all conditions list for the event.
- Lashanna Graham ran a 56.54 in the 400 meter hurdles to move up to No. 3 in school history in the event. Her previous personal best of 57.17 seconds was No. 6 on the list.
- Isabelle Klett threw the javelin 39.00m to get to No. 10 on Clemson’s all-time list. She is the first female Tiger to earn a spot on the top-10 list in the Javelin throw since Alyssa Debski in 2017.
- Victor Ndiwa set a huge personal best in the 1500 meter run to earn the No. 7 spot in school history. His 3:44.12 time was over…
