Director Dave Cianelli named VaSID Men's Coach of the Year


BLACKSBURG – Virginia Tech director of track & field and cross country Dave Cianelli earned Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID) Men’s Indoor Coach of the Year honors on Friday, as 14 Hokies earned all-state honors on the men’s team. Cianelli coached the men’s team to their third consecutive conference championship. 

Cole Beck, Kennedy Harrison, and Antonio Lopez Segura led the men’s team receiving two first team all-state accolades. Beck placed second in the 60m and third in 200m competing at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships. He earned two USTFCCCA All-American honors competing at the indoor national championships.

Harrison placed third in the 400m at the ACC Championships with a time of 46.48. During the regular season Beck and Harrison ran in the men’s 4x400m at the Tiger Paw Invite clocking in a school record time of 3:05.49. Lopez Segura ran anchor in the men’s 4x400m relay at the conference championships finishing first with a time of 9:28.86. He finished third in the 3000m with a season-best time of 7:51.52. 

Chauncey Chambers, Conner McClure, Sean Murphy, Judson Lincoln IV, Ali Diaby, Nick Plant, Arlo Ludewick, and Amir Green earned all-state first team, as Viktor Idhammar, Khalil Bedoui, and Jake Spotswood were named to the second team.
