PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Rutgers track and field closed out its two-day home meet with a pair of school records as Sincere Robinson set a new mark in the long jump and Nadale Buntin tied the record time in the 100-meter at the Rutgers Relays on Saturday, April 22 at the Bauer Track and Field Complex.
The Scarlet Knights totaled 15 individual event wins and victories in five relays across both the men’s and women’s squads. In addition to the 15 wins, Rutgers claimed the top two spots in nine events, including the top four placements in both the men’s and women’s javelin.
Robinson, the reigning Big Ten Champion in the indoor, claimed the school outdoor long jump record as he hit a winning mark of 7.93m. The record was previously held by assistant coach Corey Crawford, which he set in 2016. Buntin, also a Big Ten Indoor Champion, was able to tie the school record in the 100-meter dash with a first-place time of 10.30, matching a record that has stood for nearly 40 years.
Also posting wins on the men’s side was Al-Tariq Dunson, who was victorious in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.27, followed by Christopher Serrao in second in 15.09. Jon Fontana won the 5,000-meter with a time of 14:49.96, while the Scarlet Knights earned wins in two men’s relays with the 4×200 and 4×400-meter. Zack Novak, Dana Ridley, Aaron Black and Antonio Tarantino combined for a winning 4×200-meter relay time of 1:28.90. In the 4×400-meter, Tyler Kelly, Joshua Babe, Zack Novak and Jameson Woodell posted a win with a time of 3:16.34.
Jabari Higgs-Salaam placed second in the long jump behind Robinson with a jump of 7.61m. Nico Morales took the top spot in the pole vault, clearing a height of 4.88m. Steven Coponi led the way in the javelin, winning the event with a throw of 68.19m. The Scarlet Knights would take the next three spots with Joshua Mather in second (66.32m), Robert Paneque in third (61.89m) and Zachary Semerjian in fourth (59.20m).
Rutgers went 1-2 in the men’s discus as Konstantinos Bouzakis earned the win with a throw of 54.28m, followed by Kyle Lipscomb in second with a throw of 53.89m. Lipscomb also won the hammer throw with a distance of 63.99m.
The women’s team earned individual wins on the track in the 100-meter dash and 110-meter hurdles. Dennisha Page finished first in the 100 with a time of 11.59,…
