MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin track and field team hosts its final meet of the regular season at home on Friday at the McClimon Track Complex. Field events for the Wisconsin Alumni Classic are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. with track events beginning at 3:30 p.m.

1. THANK YOU, SENIORS: The Wisconsin seniors compete in their final regular season meet this weekend. UW will honor 11 student-athletes — Josie Schaefer, Taylor Gilling, Destiny Huven, Tia Dorshorst, Danielle Orie, Heidi Heuerman, Sami Stieve, Kate Ricks, Lexi Westley, Victoria Heiligenthal, Peyton Sippy — at 4:35 p.m. at the McClimon Track Complex. The Badgers honored several other seniors in 2022 and also have several athletes returning for another season of eligibility.
2. SEASON OF CHAMPIONS: Championship season is set to kick off in Bloomington, Indiana, on Friday, May 12 with the 2023 Big Ten Outdoor Championships. Two weeks after Big Tens, UW will turn its attention to the NCAA West Preliminary round on May 24-27 in Sacramento, California, before closing out the season with the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships, June 7-10, in Austin, Texas. The Badgers are currently third in the Great Lakes Regional rankings behind No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Michigan.
3. DISTANCE WATCH: A handful of Badger’s are entered to compete in the distance events on Friday. The 1500 meters will begin at 4:30 p.m., and the 3000-meter run will begin at 6:45 p.m. with runners Kylie Finger, Kate Ricks, Erinn Hill, and Mya Bunke.
4. HOW HIGH CAN YOU GO: Graduate student Tia Dorshorst is back for more this weekend after placing sixth clearing 12 feet, 3 ½ inches two weekends ago in the pole vault. Dorshorst has the sixth-highest clearance in the program’s history. Teammates Julia Moore and Kenzi Kluge should also see action in the vault.
