‘Building a Culture of Success’: Great news as our sport lands increased investment over next four years

scottishathletics are pleased today to launch an updated version of the scottishathletics strategy, Building a Culture of Success, to run from 2023 through to 2027.

The refreshed strategy comes along with news of a significant increase in investment from sportscotland for scottishathletics over the next four years.

Significant consultation with our members, across the sport, helped ensure that our plans for the next four years align with their priorities and needs.

‘There have obviously been significant changes in the world – and in athletics – since our last Strategy was published in 2018,’ said chief executive, Colin Hutchison.

‘So we’re delighted to have refreshed plan for the next four years, so we can focus our energy on the challenges we face and the opportunities to evolve the sport.

‘The Strategy update has coincided with our planned investment review for the next four years, and we’re delighted that we’ll now receive a significant increase in funding.

‘That news is a credit to all involved in athletics in Scotland.

‘It is recognition of the resilience, the hard work and the outstanding contributions of coaches, officials, club leaders, event organisers, staff and athletes.’

The refreshed ‘Building a Culture of Success’ document and plan comes after significant consultation with the sport.

‘Thanks to everyone who took the time to share their thoughts and tell us what they want from their governing body,’ added Colin.

‘We knew it was important to fully engage with the sport during this process, and when we did, it was pleasing to see the consistency from the sport, with the views of our staff and the Board.

‘There will be further news in the coming weeks about how the increased investment will be used to bring the strategy to life.

‘There are plans for new roles and development in key areas for athletics in Scotland, to make sure the wider sport sees and benefits from the impact of both strategy and funding.

As always, a #SALtogether approach works best – with various strands of the sport all pulling in the same direction fundamental for momentum and growth.
