Wildcats Ready for 2023 Pac-12 Championships


WALNUT, Calif. – After a record-setting regular season, Arizona Track and Field will return to Mt. SAC and Hilmer Lodge Stadium for the 2023 Pac-12 Outdoor Track and Field Championships this Friday through Saturday. Jordan Geist (shot put, hammer throw), Talie Bonds (100m hurdles), Kristjan Sigfinnsson (high jump), and Alexa Porpaczy (high jump) all enter the meet ranked first in the conference in their events, leading the way for the Wildcats.
 
“The 2023 Pac-12 Championships will be a historic event,” said Head Coach Fred Harvey. “This will be the first time the Pac-12 Championships will be held at a neutral site. Based upon our last two competitions and training, I feel very confident we are ready for the challenge of the best track and field in the nation.”
 
The action gets started on Friday, with the multis events beginning at 1:30 p.m. MST, field events starting at 2:30 p.m. MST, and running events getting underway at 6:00 p.m. MST. On Saturday, the multis events will again kick off the day, this time at 11:30 a.m. MST. Both the decathlon and heptathlon will wrap up on this day. Field events will follow at 12:30 p.m. MST and running events will begin at 4:00 p.m. MST. On the final day of the meet, Sunday, field events will begin at 11:00 a.m. MST and running events will start at 1:00 p.m. MST. The majority of the running event finals will be held on Sunday, culminating with the Pac-12 Awards Presentation at 4:40 p.m. MST. Live results for all three days of competition can be found here. The Wildcats are coming off a successful regular season finale at the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson two weeks ago. The team saw a flurry of top finishes on senior night against a competitive field including a handful of Pac-12 teams. Talie Bonds and Alexa Porpaczy were the two Wildcats to win events against collegiate competitors on the day in the 100m hurdles and high jump. Jenica Bosko (long jump), Emma Gates (high jump), Tanner Kippes (pole vault), Zach Landa (shot put), and Meggie Karp (5000m) all finished runner-up in their events on the day as well. Additionally, Landa, Trayvion White-Austin (200m), and Isaac Davis (400m) all posted big personal bests in their events that moved them onto Arizona’s all-time top 10 list.
