BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — After seven events, the Wisconsin women’s track and field team is tied for second at the Big Ten Conference Outdoor Championships on Saturday. Nebraska leads the team standings with 68 points while the Badgers are tied with Michigan with 33 points.

Saturday scorers

Wisconsin scored in three events in Saturday’s finals.

Grad student Josie Schaefer finished as the runner-up in the shot put with a toss of 58 feet, 9 1/2 inches. Redshirt freshman Danni Langseth missed scoring, taking 11th with a throw of 51-1.

Senior Lucinda Crouch scored in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, crossing the line in 10 minutes, 16.93 seconds.

Freshman Shaina Zinter led the Badgers in the heptathlon, finishing seventh with 5,139 points. The St. Paul, Minnesota, native won the 800 meters in 2:11.87 and also took sixth in the heptathlon javelin at 105-5.

Senior Armoni Brown just missed scoring in the long jump, finishing ninth at 19-3 1/2.  

Finals qualifiers

On Saturday, the Badgers also qualified three athletes to Sunday’s finals.

Senior Destiny Huven won her heat of the 100-meter hurdles in 13.16, the third-fastest qualifying time.

Wisconsin sends two runners to the finals of the 800 meters. Senior Danielle Bellino finished second in her heat with the fourth-fastest qualifying time of 2:06.19. Senior Madison Mooney also finished second in her heat, crossing in 2:07.26 for the ninth-fastest qualifying time.

In the 100 meters, junior Kiley Robbins finished 14th in 11.64 while senior Taylor Gilling ran a personal best of 11.66 to finish 16th.
