MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women’s track and field team sends 17 athletes, competing in 10 events, to the NCAA West Preliminary Round in Sacramento, California. The four-day NCAA West Preliminary Round will be held at Hornet Stadium on the campus of Sacramento State. Women’s events begin on Thursday with field events starting at 10 a.m. CT and running events at 6 p.m. CT.
The top-12 competitors in each individual event and 12 teams in each relay from the NCAA West Preliminary Round qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships on June 7-10 in Austin, Texas.

Here are five things to know going into the weekend.
1. THROWING DOWN WITH THE BADGERS: Graduate student Josie Schaefer is ranked among the top athletes competing this weekend. The Baraboo native sits second in the shot put with a school record of 62 feet, 3 ¼ inches, and ninth in the discus with a personal best of 188-3. She will be joined by fellow Badgers Chloe Lindeman, Olivia Roberts, and Asia Rave, who will all be competing in the hammer throw. Lindeman is ranked fifth in the hammer with a school-record distance of 221-10. Roberts is ranked 16th with a distance of 207-4, and Rave is 47th with a throw of 191-8.
2. STEEPLE SEASON: Redshirt senior Lucinda Crouch will compete in the 3,000-meter steeplechase on Saturday. Crouch is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships. She is ranked 14th in 10 minutes, 5.35 seconds, and sits third on UW’s all-time leader list.
3. SPEEDY BADGERS: In the 100-meter hurdles, senior Destiny Huven is seeded ninth, running a season-best time of 13.01, She is coming off a fourth-place finish at the Big Ten Championships. Huven is competing in her third-straight NCAA West Preliminary Round. Junior Kiley Robbins will also be competing in the spirits as she is ranked 37th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.40.
4. MID-DISTANCE SHOW: The Badgers send four athletes to compete in the 800 meters and 1500 meters. Danielle Bellino, who will compete in the 800 meters, is ranked 42nd in the event with a time of…
