Bulldogs Ready For NCAA Outdoor Regionals In Jacksonville


STARKVILLE – The Mississippi State Track & Field team will compete in the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Regional Championships in Jacksonville, Fla., May 24-27. The 2023 regional is being held on the University of North Florida campus.
 
The four-day regional will be run at the ‘Visit Jax Track at Hodges Stadium’ on the campus of North Florida. The stadium, which has hosted six regional events since 2012, was built in 2004 and was resurfaced in 2021.

The NCAA Regional Championship will get underway on Wednesday, with the first Bulldogs competing at 12:30 p.m. (CT) in the Javelin and 5 p.m. (CT) in the long jump. Both field events will be finals, with the top 12 finishers punching their ticket to Austin, Texas. The first running events for Mississippi State will start at 6:25 p.m. (CT) with the men’s 400-meter race, followed by the men’s 800m, 400m hurdles and 200-meter race. All running events will be prelims, with finals taking place on Friday.
 
The first women’s events for State will come on Thursday when Jhordyn Stallworth competes in the shot put, and Asia Poe competes in the long jump at 5 p.m. (CT). The women’s pole vault with Maddy Kish and Emma Hunt will start at 5:30 p.m. (CT). Rosealee Cooper will also get the running events started for MSU on Thursday when she competes in the 100m hurdles at 5 p.m. (CT). Thursday will also feature women’s prelim events in the 100m, 800m, 400m hurdles, and 200-meter races. All of Thursday’s prelims will have their finals on Saturday.
 
The first relay events for the Bulldog men will start on Friday with the men’s 4x100m and 4x400m races. The women’s 4×100 meter relay will run on Saturday.
 
Peyton Bair has already qualified for the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, in the decathlon after posting a personal best score of 7,903 at the SEC Championship. Bair’s score will enter the outdoor championship as the 10th-best score in the nation.
