The Utah track & field team will send 12 student-athletes to compete in seven different at the NCAA West Preliminaries this week as it looks to continue its historic season. The 12 includes two alternates for its 4×400 relay team that also qualified for the second-consecutive season – a first in program history since 2010. The 12 is also the most for Utah since joining the 2010s.
Of the 12, four are true freshmen in Harley Daniel, Emily Martin, Shana Van Elderen and Erin Vringer. Josefine Eriksen is the lone Ute to qualify for the NCAA Championships (2022). Those making their NCAA regional preliminaries debut include Daniel, Ally Gomm, Morgan Jensen, Martin, Van Elderen, Vringer and Rachel Whipple.

IN THE RANKINGS
For the sixth-consecutive week, the Women of Utah were ranked in the USTFCCCA TFRI Top-25 after moving up two spots on an idle week to No. 16. In addition, it serves as the second-consecutive week the Utes have been ranked ahead of rival BYU in the rankings. The Utes are 1-of-5 women’s programs in the Pac-12 to be ranked inside the Top-25, joining No. 3 Oregon, No. 4 USC, No. 12 Stanford and No. 18 Washington. The five from the Conference of Champions ranks second-most by any league behind the SEC (10) followed by the Big 12 and Big Ten at three teams apiece.
