SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The second day of the 2023 NCAA Division I Outdoor Track and Field West Regional concluded with five more Bruins advancing in competition.

Federica Botter also qualified in the javelin, throwing 54.17m (178-8) and finishing 10th overall.
Yanla Ndjip-Nyemack finished second in the fifth heat of the women’s 100m hurdles, automatically clinching a spot in Saturday’s quarterfinals. The result was a personal best (12.99) and also the seventh fastest time for the event in UCLA history, moving past Jackie Joyner-Kersee (13.07). Ndjip-Nyemack’s previous personal best (13.07) was also 10th on UCLA’s all-time list, set on April 30.
Mia Barnett won her heat in the 1500m on Thursday night, setting a personal best of 4:09:30 and qualifying for the quarterfinals. It is the second-fastest time in UCLA history, beating Barnett’s own all-time top 10 record in the event (4:10:23).
