Wiltrout Earns Fourth NCAA Javelin Berth

NCAA Regional Day 1 Recap (Wednesday May 24)

JACKSONVILLE, FLA.—

Madison Wiltrout needed just one attempt to qualify for her fourth career berth in the NCAA Championships in the javelin on Thursday. One and done was more than enough as Wiltrout’s 184-11-foot effort was the best of the day. Wiltrout will move on to the NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas, on June 7-10.

Thursday’s dominance was more of the same for Wiltrout, who continued her impressive season as one of the nation’s top javelin performers. Two weeks ago, she won her third career Atlantic Coast Conference championship in the event with a season-best 58.51m effort.

Other Thursday highlights included a fourth-place finish by Carlee Hansen in the first round of the 1,500 meters, as well as top-15 finishes in the 10,000 meters by Fatima Alanis and Brynn Brown.

The NCAA East Firstr Round will continue on Friday and Saturday in Jacksonville.
