MySportsResults.com – News – Bloomfield Girls and Boys Dominate CIAC Class S OTF Championships

DyeStat.com - News - Oklahoma State Beats Washington to Men's World DMR Best

As the scores started rolling in during the CIAC Outdoor Class S Track and Field Class Championships late Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Stadium in Willowbrook Park in New Britain the only question was how much would the Bloomfield girls and boys teams dominate their opposition.

After their return last year to the winner’s circle the Bloomfield girls left no doubt in anyone’s mind that this year would be special. Bloomfield sped, leaped and threw to their 15th Class S title as they amassed 167.25 points, a little more than their previous best point in 2017 where they won with 167 pts. It would have taken the combined scores of runner-up Somers (58), third place Old Saybrook (56.25) and 4th place Lyme-Old Lyme (56) to dethrone Bloomfield.

The ninth Class S Boys Championship plaque for Bloomfield was powered by scoring in 13 of the 18 events totaling 115 points that included five first places as they raced ahead from the start over runner-up Derby with 71 pts and third place Lyme-Old Lyme with 43 points. Of note, Bloomfield has also won an additional six Class M titles.

Highlights from the Girls Class S Championship

The scoring in 15 of the 18 events by the Bloomfield girls team featured gold medalists in 4 of the 12 track events and 4 of 6 field events. Speedster Sianna Lloyd led with first in the 100m (12.55) and as an anchor in the 4x100m relay team of Dream Wilson, Nacquelia Fletcher and Caleah Baker in their CT #1 time of 47.58. Lloyd was also second in the 200m (25.85) behind Old Saybrook’s Avery Rueckert’s time of 25.22 that saw her teammates take 3rd,4th, & 7th places. Rueckert’s earlier PR time of 56.89 in the 400m had relegated Kiylah Williams to a silver medal in 58.09.

Laniyah Henderson (46.56) was edged in the 300m hurdles by gold medalist Abigail Colella of Old Saybrook in 46.53.
