NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Rising senior Joslin Blair was recognized for her service to the Vanderbilt and Nashville communities by being named to the SEC Track and Field Community Service Team on Wednesday.
In February, Blair co-organized and implemented programming for National Girls and Women in Sports Day. In partnership with Backfield in Motion, a nonprofit organization focusing on mastery of literacy and numeracy skills for at-risk youth in the Nashville community, Blair and fellow student athletes managed the entire day’s events. She connected the activity with a women-sports partner by leveraging Vanderbilt Athletics’ relationship with Simmons Bank. Providing food, entertainment and community, Blair was instrumental in the facilitation of this event to help local students learn about the benefits of being a woman in sports.
Blair has volunteered at several other events with Vanderbilt Athletics, including Networking Live, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Internship Fair Sign Up, the Summer Internship Fair, Jones Paideia Holiday Party and the NIL Competition: Shift Group.
In September, she was a volunteer at a shoe drive organized by Soles4Souls, a Nashville-based nonprofit, with Nashville Soccer Club.
