Boys 110m Hurdles
The honors keep rolling in for Stonington’s Josh Mooney. At the State Open, he lowered the CT and New England record with his time of 13.58. While he didn’t break those records on Saturday, he still ran 13.72 which was good enough to break Tony Ortiz’s New England Meet record set in 1995. Also breaking a record was Xavier’s Sam Forte who reset his own school record, crossing the line in 14.32 good for a bronze medal. Interestingly, Forte’s time is only .04 seconds off Mooney’s time he ran last year at New Englands to take second place.
Boys 4x800m Meter Relay
Several teams that were scheduled to compete did not make the trip to Bangor and there were only six teams in the fast heat. But that didn’t matter as the top heat still went fast. Isaac Mahler (1:58.02) Gabriel Sisk (1:57.18) Jacob Szalewicz (2:00.30) and Jon York (1:55.77) combined to run the second best time in CT this year, running a 7:51.27. Xavier took 3rd in 8:00.18 and East Lyme, who broke their school record last week followed up that accomplishment with a 4th place finish to also earn All New England in 8:00.32.
Girls 4x800m Relay
Glastonbury, the State Open champions in this event, improved upon their New England leading time by a little over two seconds, winning in 9:13.16. Jacqueline Dudus (2:19.68) Kelley MacElhiney (2:23.57) Brooke Strauss (2:14.29) and Annika Paluska (2:15.63) took the lead on the third leg to run a time of 9:13.16 only four seconds…
