British Athletics website team announcement
Two young Scots have been picked for GB and NI for the European U20 Champs later this summer.
Natasha Phillips and Tendai Nyabadza will be part of the British team for the event in Jerusalem on Augst 7-10.
The duo from Dundee Hawkhill Harriers and Harmeny AC won U20 titles at the England Athletics Champs last weekend to effectively become British champions and clinch their places for Israel.
It’s a first vest with GB and NI for Natasha in the Women’s 5000m after impressive road performances in Scotland this spring.
Emerging 1500m talent Tendai, who is coached by Robert Hawkins, was at the European Youths event last sumer – also in Jerusalem – and won a fine bronze medal.
Congratulations to both athletes and their families, coaches and clubs on their selections.
This is a ‘first wave’ announcement for the European U20 Champs with the window still open for qualifying standards. A second (final) team announcement is due on July 10, so further Scots may yet be picked for Jerusalem.
