SEATTLE — More than a dozen athletes with UW ties are set to get on the track with the nation’s best at the 2023 USATF Outdoor Championships, held at Hayward Field in Eugene from July 6-9. Past, present, and future Huskies will be in action, including nine Dawgs who were in action last month at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Texas.
Those nine Dawgs from the record-setting 2023 squad include four now beginning post-collegiate careers: Anna Gibson, racing for Brooks in the 1,500-meters, Kayley DeLay competing for the Brooks Beasts in the steeplechase, and Sam Ellis in the men’s 1,500m and Cass Elliott in the 400m hurdles.
Six more Huskies in action this week plan to be back next season, including NCAA Champion Nathan Green and NCAA runner-up and 2022 champion Joe Waskom in the 1,500-meters. NCAA pole vault runner-up Nastassja Campbell will be in action, as will Jonathan Birchman in the 400m hurdles and Chandler Ault in the javelin.
Former Huskies in the fields include Katie Follett in the 1,500-meters, Katie Rainsberger in the steeplechase, Olivia Gruver in the pole vault, and Julius Diehr in the steeplechase. UW assistant…
