Women’s Track and Field Earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team


TUCSON, Ariz. – The University of Arizona women’s track and field team was selected by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a 2023 All-Academic Team after earning a 3.565 GPA combined.

Women’s track and field earns USTFCCCA All-Academic Team honors after a stellar outdoor season that produced three All-Americans including Talie Bonds (First Team), Tapenisa Havea (Honorable Mention), and Alexa Porpaczy (Honorable Mention).

On the men’s side, Jordan Geist (First Team), Jared O’Riley (Honorable Mention), James Onanubosi (Honorable Mention), and Sir Jonathan Sims (Honorable Mention) add USTFCCCA All-Academic honors to their successful year on the track and in the field.

11 Wildcats qualified for the NCAA Championships, marking the most in recent history. Also, seven qualified for the NCAA Championship Finals also the largest number of student-athletes participating from Arizona Track and Field in recent history.

The team criteria included a combined GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale and the individual cumulative GPA needed to fall between 3.25 and 4.0 to qualify.
