Eight runners have been selected to represent Scotland at Nasego Vertical, a Valsir World Cup Mountain Running event in Italy in September. The course is uphill only and covers a 1000m of climb in only 4.2km.
Jacob Adkin (Robbie Simpson, Moorfoot) and Kirsty Dickson (Carnethy) gained automatic selection from the UKA World uphill only trial.
Joining them are Rory Abernethy (Ochil), Scout Adkin (Angela Mudge, Moorfoot), Alasdair Campbell (Cambuslang), Jamie Crowe (Derek Easton, Central), Alice Goodall (Mark Pollard, Edinburgh UHH) and Holly Page (Lewis Walker, Carnethy),
The team should gain invaluable experience from competing in a world cup event and hopefully use this as a stepping stone for GB selection. There are numerous uphill only events in Europe for the specialist climbers in the endurance community.
Congratulations to athletes, coaches and families on their selection.
