John Earns A Silver Medal During Day 1 Of The World Athletics Championships

Yemi John anchored Great Britain to a silver medal in the mixed 4x400m relay during the first day of the 2023 World Athletics Championships held in Budapest, Hungary today (Aug. 19). 

  • John anchored the Great Britain mixed 4x400m relay team to a national record of 3:11.06 to edge the Czech Republic for a silver medal, and to finish second to the winning USA squad.  In the prelims earlier in the day, John also ran the final leg as Great Britain’s relay team posted time of 3:11.19, which was a new national record, which lasted until they ran in the final. 

Among the Trojans expected to compete at the 2023 World Athletics Championships and the countries they will represent are:

USA – Nia Ali, Rai Benjamin, Anna Cockrell, Isaiah Jewett, Dalilah Muhammad, TeeTee Terry

Cananda – Aaron Brown, Kyra Constantine, Andre De Grasse

Great Britain – Yemi John, Tade Ojoa, Nicole Yeargin

The World Athletics Championships run from Aug. 19-27 in Budapest, Hungary.
