ACC Announces Weekly Cross Country Awards


CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Syracuse swept the Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Performers of the Week while Pitt garnered the Freshman of the Week honor following standout performances at the Harry Groves Spiked Shoe Invitational, hosted by Penn State.  
 
ACC Men’s Performer of the Week – Perry Mackinnon, R-Sr., Syracuse
Mackinnon won his Syracuse debut at Penn State and led the Orange to a first-place finish, beating Pitt by 43 points. The Coaticook, Quebec, native finished the 5.2-mile course in 25:31.1, as Syracuse claimed the top four spots.
 
ACC Women’s Performer of the Week – Sophia Jacobs-Townsley, R-Sr., Syracuse
Jacobs-Townsley helped guide Syracuse to a runner-up finish behind host Penn State. The Amherst, Massachusetts, native traversed the 6k course in 20:59.0, placing second to lead four ‘Cuse finishers in the top 10.
 
ACC Women’s Freshman of the Week – Camy Kiser, Fr., Pitt
Kiser made her Pitt debut at Penn State, completing the 6k in 22:02.6 to help the Panthers secure third place at the meet. The Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, native was one of three freshmen to finish in the top 20.
