MADISON, Wis. – UW sophomore Josh Truchon has been named Big Ten Cross Country Men’s Athlete of the Week following his individual victory at Saturday’s Badger Classic.

Truchon conquered the 8K Zimmer Championship Course in 24 minutes and 10 seconds in his cross country collegiate debut.

The West Allis native’s performance propelled the Badgers to a fourth-place team finish.

“Great win for Josh Truchon,” UW Director of Track and Field and Cross Country Mick Byrne said after Saturday’s race. “We’re very excited about where he’s at. He will help us down the road, and that’s what we hoped was going to happen today.”

Truchon and UW will next race in Chicago at the Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Friday, Sept. 29. The men’s race will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Montrose Harbor.
