Cougars set to host Cougar Classic Friday in Colfax


PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State men’s and women’s cross country teams will get set to increase the volume this week as it hosts its annual Cougar Classic Invitational at Colfax Golf Club Friday with the men’s 8k race scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by the women’s 6k at 5:45 p.m.

Last Time Out:

– Kelvin Limo set the all-time Washington State men’s cross country home course record with a 6k time of 17:24.3 at the WSU Alumni Open (Sept. 1).

– Neema Kimtai recorded the third-fastest 4k time in women’s cross country history at 13:25.6 to lead all women in the season-opening WSU Alumni Open.

– Cristina Molteni finished the women’s 4k in 13:34.1 while her teammate Caroline Jerotich finished just behind in 13:35.7, the sixth-fastest all-time in WSU women’s program history.

– Maya Nichols (14:49.1, fourth-place) and newcomer Isabela Alvarado clocked a time of 15:06.8 (fifth-place) in her Cougar debut to round out the top five.

Up Next:

Washington State cross country will return to action on Fri., Sept. 29, with the Joe Piane Invitational from South Bend, Ind., as well as the Whitman Invitational meet a day later on Sat., Sept. 30, in Walla Walla, Wash.
