Eugene Results

Laura Muir closed out her season with the second fastest 1500m run of her career in Eugene – at 3.55.16.

It was enough for third place in the Women’s 1500m Diamond League final as the peerless Faith Kipyegon won the title for the sixth time.

The Kenyan set a blistering pace and broke clear of the field midway through the race to surge to the finish in 3:50.72. Ethiopia’s Diribe Welteji was second in 3:53.93.

Laura’s only quicker 1500m was at the 2021 Olympics when she set a British Record at 3:54.50 with the  run in America improving on her winning time in Brussels last week.

And with eight finalists from the World Champs in Budapest on the start-line in Eugene, there should be satisfaction for the Scot, who was sixth in Hungary, in making the top three in the Diamond League final.

It followed on from successive wins in Zurich, over 800m, and Brussels over 1500m to make it a very strong end to the season.
