CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – The following runners have been recognized as Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Performers of the Week following their standout performances during Sept. 11-17.
ACC Men’s Performer of the Week – Joshua Methner, Jr., Notre Dame
Methner crossed the line first at the National Catholic Invitational with a personal-best 24:04.8 in the five-mile event. The Mount Prospect, Illinois, native finished 10 seconds ahead of teammate and second-place finisher Jake Renfree, as the Fighting Irish claimed the top-five spots and the team title.
ACC Women’s Performer of the Week – Alyson Churchill, Sr., Florida State
Churchill claimed her second individual victory of the season at the Covered Bridge Open in Boone, North Carolina, as she finished the 5K 16:08.3. The Tallahassee, Florida, native, who won the event by more than 40 seconds, recorded a personal-best, which she set just two weeks ago.
ACC Women’s Freshman of the Week – Gladys Chepngetich, Fr., Clemson
Chepngetich earned her first collegiate first-place finish at the Furman Invitational 6K on Saturday with a time of 20:47.28. The freshman was the lone Tiger in the top-10, as Clemson claimed a third-place finish in the event.
