Doris Lemngole Named SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Alabama cross country’s Doris Lemngole earned her first Southeastern Conference weekly honor, the league office announced Tuesday. Lemngole was named the SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week for her individual title at the Southern Showcase. In her first-ever collegiate race, the Crimson Tide freshman clocked the second-fastest reported 5K time of the week (16:12.10) across the league.

With the help of Lemngole, the No. 13 Alabama women’s squad registered its second top-four finish as a team in back-to-back meets to open the 2023 campaign.

Individually, Lemngole entered her first race ranked No. 3 nationally in FloTrack’s NCAA Women’s Cross Country Individual Rankings. Alabama was one of only two schools with multiple athletes in the top eight (Hilda Olemomoi, No. 8).
