Wolfe Named ACC XC Performer Of The Week


CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – North Carolina junior Parker Wolfe led the way as the Atlantic Coast Conference named its cross country student-athletes of the week on Tuesday for their outstanding performances over the past weekend.

ACC Men’s Performer of the Week – Parker Wolfe, Jr., North Carolina

Wolfe (23:23.1) claimed a second-place finish at Saturday’s Virginia Invitational 8K in Charlottesville, Virginia, as the junior paced the Tar Heels to a third-place finish. The Denver, Colorado, native was the top ACC finisher for the meet that saw five conference teams compete.

ACC Women’s Performer of the Week – Margot Appleton, Jr., Virginia

Appleton (16:21.5) placed third at the Virginia Invitational 5K on Saturday with a personal-best time, as the Cavaliers finished third in the final team standings. In a field that featured four ACC schools, the Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, native was the top conference finisher.

ACC Men’s Freshman of the Week – Rocky Hansen, Fr., Wake Forest

Hansen (23:30.9) earned a fifth-place finish and was the top freshman at the Virginia Invitational 8K on Saturday. The Hendersonville, North Carolina, native was the lone freshman to finish in the top 20 and was Wake Forest’s top finisher.

ACC Women’s Freshman of the Week – Gillian Bushee, Fr., Virginia

Bushee (17:16.8) was the highest finishing ACC freshman at Saturday’s Virginia Invitational 5K and helped the Cavaliers to a third-place team finish behind No. 2 Northern Arizona and No. 9 Stanford.
