NEW ORLEANS – Ole Miss women’s cross country moved up three spots to No. 22 in the Week Three USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll released on Tuesday.
This is the 43rd overall appearance for the Rebel women, who are coming off a runner-up team finish at Loyola’s Sean Earl Lakefront Invitational on Sept. 29. The Rebel women clocked a tight scoring spread of just 34 seconds in the close team battle with Furman, led by seniors Loral Winn (third, 19:53.0) and Ryann Helmers (fourth, 19:55.7), who clocked the sixth and seventh sub-20 6K time in recorded women’s history at Ole Miss.
The Ole Miss men are also receiving votes for Week Three after a solid fifth-place showing at Loyola last week. Junior transfer Jack Meijer led the way with his second consecutive fifth-place showing at an 8K time of 23:47.4.
Ole Miss is off this week to prepare for Wisconsin’s high-quality Nuttycombe Invitational, set for Friday, October 13, in Madison.
