MySportsResults.com – News – 41st Wickham Park XC Invitational is Cancelled

After meeting with Wickham Park management this morning, Meet Director Bill Baron announced that the 41st Wickham Park XC Invitational, scheduled for Saturday October 7, 2023, is cancelled due to the heavy rainfall and thunderstorms predicted that would prevent over 3,100 athletes from competing under safe conditions in the 15-race meet. The meet is not rescheduled for another date this year.

Due to the 3-inches of rain from last weekend added to the most rainfall seen in the past 40 years, park management had already issued an alert to CIAC schools that the park is closed for any practices as they try to make multiple course repairs to ready the course for the championship season. The 5k course at Wickham Park also hosts two conference meets (CTC and CCC) a week prior to the CIAC Division Championships on Saturday, October 28, 2023, followed by the State Open on Friday November 3rd. The CT Middle School Championships follows on Saturday, November 4th.

ENTRY FEE ALERT: Coaches who have already sent their entry fees have the option to apply the meet entry fee to next year’s fee or have the fee returned to their school.
