PEORIA, Ill. – The Illinois men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up competition at the Bradley Pink Classic on Friday. The men’s team earned silver with 121 points, while the women’s team did not register a team score. Senior Jack Roberts collected his third individual win on the season with a time of 24:08.4 in today’s 8k. He hasn’t finished any lower than second all year. Junior Halle Hill finished second in the women’s 6k with a new personal-best time of 20:36.9, which also ranks ninth-best in program history.
Sophomore Alex Partlow extended his streak of top-10 finishes to four with his fifth-place finish (24:22.3). Sophomore Brady Masters rounded out the top 10 for the Illini when he crossed 10th and clocked a 24:37.0. Junior Anthony Maida made it four Illini in the top 20 with his 17th-place finish (24:39.5).
Junior Sam Poglitsch was the second Illini women’s runner to finish, securing 13th place with a time of 21:23.0. Sophomore Lydia Malecek recorded a new personal-best time of 22:49.6.
Five Illini runners competed in the early Open races: senior Will O’Brien; sophomore Shawn Juliette; and freshmen Kyle Clark, Avril Andre, and Isabella Daley. Andre placed third in her Illini debut (22:17.5), while Daley placed 52nd (24:07.1). Clark placed fourth overall with a new personal best (25:20.7), O’Brien placed 53rd (26:44.5), and Juliette placed 69th with a new personal best (26:56.8).
