Cross Country Concludes Regular Season at UVA Pre-Nationals


CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The University of Pittsburgh men’s and women’s cross country teams wrapped up their regular season on Saturday morning at UVA Pre-Nationals, hosted by the University of Virginia at Panorama Farms.

Senior Luke Henseler, junior Peyton Geehrer, and sophomore Finn Walsh were the top three finishers for the Panthers in the men’s blue 8k championship race. Henseler, Geehrer, and Walsh all recorded new personal bests. Henseler finished in 30th with a 23:49.3 time. Geehrer followed in 83rd place with a time of 24:26.7. Walsh crossed the line in 24:37.9, solidifying 107th place. The Pitt men finished in 19th place overall with 431 points.

The Pitt women came in 12th place with 362 points in the women’s blue 6k championship race. Senior Sadie Carey-Tharp led the way, finishing in 21st place, crossing the line in 20:27.8, a new personal best. Junior Winnie Incorvaia and freshman Olivia Bufalini also recorded personal bests in the meet. Incorvaia finished in 66th place, with a mark of 21:12.0. Bufalini crossed the line in 21:19.7, good for 78th place. Senior Emily Brown recorded an 81st place finish in 21:21.4.

The Panthers will kick off championship season in Tallahassee, Fla. on October 27th when they compete in ACC Championships hosted by Florida State University at Apalachee Regional Park.
