RIVERSIDE, Calif. — The final competition before the Pac-12 Championships brought out nine personal bests for the Sun Devils.
“It was a good day to be a Sun Devil,” said head coach Ryan Ray. “We are proud of both teams today. The effort and drive was fantastic. Anytime you have nine personal bests, you know it was a good day.”
The women came in fourth with Sadie Heeringa (20:38.5/9th place) earning a personal best by a minute. Claire Le Gallo followed with ASU’s second best time of the race (20:52.7/17th). Mia Chavez followed close behind with a time of 21:17.3 (29th.
The men came in tenth with Johnathan Estrada (24:12.3/16th place) earning a 38 second personal best. Tyler Schierenberg came in 44th place (24:48.3). This duo contributed to solidifying ASU’s 10th place in the men’s competition.
Up next, the Sun Devils travel to University Place, Washington to compete in the Pac-12 Championships on Friday, Oct. 27. The Championships are slated to start at 10 am MST and will be aired on Pac-12 Networks.
