COLUMBIA, S.C.- The Mississippi State cross country team is headed south to compete in its first postseason conference meet this season for the 2023 Cross Country Championships at South Carolina’s Charwood Golf Club on Friday Morning.
State will take the line for the 6k race at 9:50 a.m. CT. The Bulldog women will face five top-20 teams No. 7 Florida, No. 11 Arkansas, No. 13 Alabama and No. 23 Tennessee. Coverage of the SEC Championships will begin at 9:00 a.m. CT on the SEC Network.
The Bulldogs finished the regular season with three consecutive seventh place finishes and a second-place finish in its first meet. State’s is bringing 10 runners, all of whom are slated to return next season. The Friday squad will include three runners who are returning from last year’s SEC Championship Hunter Anderson, Hayley Ogle and Madison Jones. Jones ran a 6k PR last year with a time of 21:24.3 and was the first of the maroon and white to cross the line. Ogle returns to the line following a 6k personal best performance at the Gans Creek Classic this season with a time of 21:43.4.
Also running are five freshmen Ramat Jimoh, Gabrielle Boulay, Madelyn Keating, Jaelyn Ogle, Brooklyn Quanz, and two redshirt freshmen Maci Mills and Mallory Streetman. In Jimoh’s first year of cross country, she has scored for the bulldogs in every regular season meet. Boulay, and Keating have not ran a 6k this season.
