CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Virginia Director of Track & Field and Cross Country, Vin Lananna announced Tuesday (Oct. 31) the program’s 2024 indoor and outdoor track and field schedules.
Virginia will open its season prior to the start of the new year when the Cavaliers compete at the Liberty Kickoff (Nov. 30-Dec. 1). Virginia will also make its first of four trips to Boston, Mass. for the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener hosted by Boston University (Dec. 2).
Following the winter break, The Cavaliers will make consecutive trips to Blacksburg, Va. to compete at the Virginia Tech Invitational (Jan. 12-13) and the Hokie Invitational (Jan. 19-20).
The middle of the season will feature a trip to State College, Pa. for the Penn State National (Jan. 26-27), before Virginia travels to Virginia Tech’s Doc Hale Elite (Feb. 2-3), Liberty’s Darius Dixon Memorial Invitational (Feb. 9-10), Clemson’s Tiger paw Invitational (Feb. 9-10) and Boston University’s David Hemery Valentine Invitational (Feb. 9-10).
The regular season will conclude with competition at the Virginia Tech Challenge (Feb. 16-17) and the Arkansas Qualifier (Feb. 16). The Championship season will feature the ACC Indoor Championships (Feb. 22-24) and NCAA Indoor Championships (March 8-9). Both meets will be held at the TRACK at New Balance, a recently opened world-class facility in the heart of Boston Landing.
The Cavaliers will open the 2024 outdoor track and field season at Lannigan Field hosting the Virginia Triangular (March 23) before trips to North Carolina for the Raleigh Relays (March 28-30) and the Duke Invitational (April 4-6).
The Cavaliers will return to Lannigan Field to host a pair of meets in the Virginia Grand Prix (April 12-13) and the Virginia Challenge (April 19-20).
The final week of the regular season will feature a trip to the historic Penn Relays (April 25-27) as well as the Virginia High Performance (April 28).
The championship season begins with the ACC Outdoor Championships hosted by Georgia Tech (May 9-11). The NCAA East Regionals (May 22-25) will be held in Lexington, Ky. while the NCAA Outdoor Championships (June 5-8) return to Eugene, Ore. to be contested at Hayward Field.
