Track and Field Announces 2024 Schedule

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Althea Thomas, director of cross country and track and field, announced the team’s indoor and outdoor track and field schedule Friday.

The Commodores will open their indoor season Jan. 12–13 when they host the Commodore Challenge at the David Williams II Recreation and Wellness Center. Vandy will host two more home meets during the indoor season, the Vanderbilt Invitational Jan. 19–20 and the Music City Challenge Feb. 9–10.

The team will travel to Massachusetts to compete in two away meets. The Crimson Elite, hosted by Harvard, will be Feb. 2, and the Bruce Lehane Scarlet & White Invitational, hosted by Boston University, is scheduled for Feb. 3.

The 2024 SEC Indoor Championships will be hosted by reigning men’s and women’s NCAA indoor champion Arkansas in Fayetteville Feb. 23–24. Vanderbilt women’s track and field placed fifth and boasted medalists in four events and three additional scoring performances at the 2023 SEC Indoor Championships.

Qualifiers for the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships will compete in Boston, Massachusetts, March 8–9 at The Track at New Balance.

Vanderbilt will kick off its outdoor season in Tampa, Florida, at the USF Bulls Invitational March 15–16.

After taking a weekend off, the Commodores will divide and conquer when they compete in the Raleigh Relays March 28–30 and Pepsi Florida Relays March 29–30. The next weekend, the women’s track and field team will attend the Joe Walker Invitational, hosted by Ole Miss on April 5–6.

The outdoor season will keep rolling into April, when Vanderbilt will attend back-to-back meets in California. First, it will attend the Bryan Clay Invitational April 11–13 in Azusa. The Dores will return to the Golden State the next weekend for the Mt. SAC Relays April 17–20. In the same weekend, members of the track and field team will compete in the LSU Alumni Gold on April 20.

Vandy will close out the regular season at home, hosting the Music City Challenge (April 26–27).

The SEC Outdoor Championships will be May 9–11 in Gainesville, Florida. At the 2022 conference championships, Veronica Fraley set the Bernie Moore Track Stadium facility record en route to winning the SEC discus title. Over the weekend, Vanderbilt’s team saw two conference champions and six scoring performances, totaling 39 points for an 11th-place finish.
