8. Brian Igoe, former NIKE EKIN, former Reebok executive, sports business executive, 2:20.20 Marathoner (Boston, 1983), died December 16, 2023. Brian was 70 and had been fighting a tough battle with Alzheimer’s, he was 70. 9. Mason Fackert, Concord Ventures, lifelong publishing executive, 1939-2023 (August 27, 2023). Mason was incredibly influential in my publishing career. I worked with his son, Scott for several years. Mason was a wonderful mentor. I am thinking of his wife Lou, Scott, and his brothers and sisters. 10. Thinking of the fine people we have lost this year and also thinking of those who have taken the time to mentor me during my career.

11. Thinking of Derek Clayton, the first man under 2:12, 2:11, 2:10, and 2:09 in the marathon. Derek was the VP of Marketing at Runners’ World from the late 1970s to 1985….
