Throughout this Indoor season, MySportsResults will once again recognize our top boys’ and girls’ track and field athletes each week. Without further delay, we congratulate Lyman Hall’s boys and EO Smith girls 1600m sprint medley relay teams who have been chosen as our Week 2 2023-24 HOKA Female and Male Athletes of the Week. In addition to the recognition each week award recipients will receive a commemorative t-shirt in recognition of their performance.
EO Smith was 6th in the 1600 sprint medley relay at NBNI last winter to claim All American honors and it looks like they will have another good relay team again. The team of Katelyn Shirshac, Aris Roane, Madeline Doran and New England 600m champion Gabriella Hernandez joined forces at the MSTCA Boston Holiday Challenge in Boston last Wednesday to run 4:14.98. Their performance not only gives them the state lead but it is also ranked them #3 nationally.

At the Marine Corps Invite last Friday, Lyman Hall’s team of Michael Fisher (400m), Timothy Conklin (200m), Owen Rich (200m) and Thomas Conklin came from behind and won with a time of 3:32.76. Thomas Conklin finished their effort with an 800m split of 1:56.21. Earlier in the meet, he had placed 4th in the 800m Invitational in 1:55.36. Their time is not only the the national leading time, it is #6 all time in CT history, only four seconds off Danbury’s state record of 3:28.36 the Hatters set when they won New Balance Nationals Indoors in 2018.
