Six men run sub-8min for 3000m in Sheffield with Georgia Bell and Ellie Leather also impressing plus national combined events titles for Sam Talbot, Abigail Pawlett, Thea Brown and Conrad Winter

The men’s 3000m has seen some notable races over recent years and again this was the best quality event of the meeting as the first six went inside eight minutes.
Up ahead, James Gormley, who improved his 1500m PB to 3:37.20 last summer, won in an indoor PB of 7:53.71 ahead of the Wheeler twins George and Charles with George setting an outright PB of 7:54.77, just 0.21 ahead of his brother.
NCAA 1500m finalist Ellie Leather won the women’s race in a half-minute PB of 8:54.67 with Jenny Nesbitt second and Bryony Gunn setting a PB in third.

Olivia Forrest went sixth all-time in the UK under-17 indoor 3000m lists with a 9:42.22 a day after winning the Essex under-15 cross-country title in a week where she also won the Serpentine New Year’s Day 10km.
Georgia Bell won the 1500m in an indoor PB of 4:10.74 from Georgie Hartigan.
In the B race third-placer Zoe Doyle finished a second short of Lesley Bell’s 2023 W45 UK indoor mark of 4:37.58 set last year with a time of 4:38.61 to go a close third all-time.

In his first 1500m for eight years, UK 800m indoor runner-up Ben Claridge moved up successfully to win the men’s A race in 3:51.15.
In the B race, there was a clash between the two fastest under-15 1500m runners of all time and Evan Grime came out on top against Angus Wilkinson 4:01.20 to 4:03.57.
The 1:47.77 performer Ted Chamberlain won the 800m in an indoor PB of 1:51.20.
