UAB will host Saturday’s meet at the Birmingham CrossPlex Indoor Track and Field Facility. State’s road to the NCAA Indoor Championships will begin at 8:30 a.m. with throwing events, followed by running events at 9:30 a.m. and field events starting at 11:30 a.m.
Highlighting State’s 2024 indoor opener is Rosealee Cooper, who qualified for the 2023 NCAA Indoor Championships in the 60m hurdles. Also returning is senior Jhordyn Stallworth, who broke Mississippi State’s women’s indoor shot put record last year with a distance of 15.78m.
Coming off a successful cross country season are distance runners Ramat Jimoh and North Dakota native Hayley Ogle, both of whom earned top-five finishes for MSU in every meet.
On the men’s side, returning to the Bulldog lineup will be 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships qualifiers Peyton Bair (Multis) and Sema’J Daniels (sprints). Bair, a sophomore from Idaho, broke State’s Heptathlon record at last year’s SEC Indoor Championships with 5,773 pts, over 600 more points than the previous record set in 2017. Mississippi State quarterback, Mike Wright (sprints), will make his collegiate track debut. Wright joined the team in 2024.
Making their collegiate debuts include Mississippi natives and first-year students Roury McCloyen (throws) and Kennedy Stringfellow (sprints/jumps). McCloyen won six individual state championships during his high school career and holds the Mississippi high school state record in the discus. Stringfellow went undefeated in the 200m dash and the long jump his senior year, earning him a state title in both events.
