MySportsResults.com would like to congratulate Hall Girls 4x800m and Soheib Dissa of Newtown who have been chosen as our Week 4 2023-24 HOKA Female and Male Athletes of the Week. In addition to the recognition each week, award recipients will receive a commemorative t-shirt in recognition of their performance.

People love to be involved with high school sports because of the unbridled enthusiasm of youth. That enthusiasm was on display watching Hall girls 2nd place finish in the Championship 3200m relay. The Titans team of Lauren Moskal, Abigail Sanderson, Julia Zydanowicz and Rylan Priest faced off against defending State Open and New England championships Glastonbury and Bayport-Blue Point who featured 4:44 miler Sophia McInnes. While Hall had no one to match’s McInnes 2:11 split, they held off all others, taking 2nd in a new school record, a CT #10 all time and a current US #4 time of 9:21.48.

Soheib Dissa was leading the nation in two events for a short time this week and remains 4th in the mile and 6th in the 3000m. After a crazy final last 100m at the Millrose Games Trials on Wednesday, Dissa once again drew upon his finishing speed to come from behind and win the 3000m on Saturday morning at Yale. He used his typical race strategy of starting off in the pack, but this time, someone stepped on his shoe and it was left on the side of the track just after the start of the third lap. He was forced to run 2550 meters with only one sock and one shoe. But the Nighthawk was patient and sprinted by LaSalle’s Marshall Vernon off the last turn to claim the win in a new school and SWC record time of 8:35.77. His performances this week also makes him the 10th fastest miler and 11th fastest 3000m runner in state history.
