Top Scots head to London this weekend for a key cross country fixture.

The Home Countries XC has been included in the fourth leg of the British Cross Challenge – with the well-known Parliament Hill course as the venue.

It promises to be a really exciting event and we are delighted Scotland teams at Senior and U20 level will compete.

There is a World Cross Country Champs element, too, and our Inter-District XC champion Jamie Crowe has expressed his desire to be in the selection mix.

Jamie heads what looks like a strong Scotland Men’s quartet with the Women’s team featuring our Renfrew gold medallist, Kirsty Walker.

Senior Women
Kirsty Walker
(Edinburgh AC); Lynn McKenna (Shettleston Harriers/Glasgow Uni Hare and Hounds); Holly Page (Carnethy HRC); Scout Adkin (Moorfoot Runners)

Senior Men
Angus McMillan
(City of York); Jamie Crowe (Central AC); Scott Stirling (Falkirk Victoria Harriers); Max Milarvie (VP-Glasgow/Dulwich)

U20 Women
Millie McClelland Brooks
(Inverclyde AC/Glasgow School of Sport); Natasha Phillips (Dundee Hawkhill Harriers); Jessica Inglis (Law and District AAC); Amy Teasdale (Kilbarchan AAC)

U20 Men
Connor Bell
(Central AC/Glasgow Uni Hare and Hounds); Logan Beagley (Livingston AC);  (Giffnock North); Hamish McKay (Aberdeen AAC)

‘It’s always great to represent Scotland at cross country and I am sure everyone is really looking forward to the trip down to London,’ said Scott Stirling, silver medallist at the Inter-District XC after another good run by the Falkirk Victoria athlete.

‘I think Renfrew was the ideal ‘warm-up’ for London. It looks like an exciting event with lots of elements to it and for us a Home Countries XC International.

‘We feel the men’s team is strong with Jamie and myself and Angus McMillan just back from the Euro Cross with GB and NI. So I am excited to see how competitive we can be.

‘I’m in a good place at the moment and a lot of it just down to life balance and what’s happening away from training. I am recovering better, my work life is more settled and, when you start to perform well you just want to build and push on with other opportunities.’
