MySportsResults.com would like to congratulate Newington’s Kate Bohlke and Capital Prep’s Makye Wade who have been chosen as our Week 5 2023-24 HOKA Female and Male Athletes of the Week. In addition to the recognition each week, award recipients will receive a commemorative t-shirt in recognition of their performance.

After two strong races where she just came up short of a win, Newington’s Kate Bohlke used a strong last lap to win the mile in a new PR of  4:52.66, the 8th fastest time in state history. The senior, who has committed to Virginia Tech, was in third place with 150m to go but she powered down the back straight away with a gear she didn’t have last week when she finished 2nd at the Yale Invitational. Bohlke’s performance is currently ranked 10th nationally and earned her a spot in the prestigious Millrose Games High School Mile on Sunday, February 11th.

Six CT boys have already soared over 22-feet in the long jump this season, but Capital Prep’s Makye Wade did it for the third time this past Saturday at the Armory Officials Hall of Fame Invitational. He not only won the long jump, he set the meet record with a distance of 22-11.75 on his last jump of the competition. The distance not only takes over the state lead, it is ranked as a US #22.
