MySportsResults.com would like to congratulate Tolland’s Colby Bernstein and Brooke Strauss of Glastonbury who have been chosen as our Week 6 2023-24 HOKA Male and Female Athletes of the Week. In addition to the recognition each week, award recipients will receive a commemorative t-shirt in recognition of their performance.

Tolland’s Colby Bornstein ruled the distance events at the CCC championship on Saturday, winning the 1600m in 4:20.19 and returning to claim a second gold medal in the 3200m finishing in 9:27.98. The senior defeated Hall’s Isaac Mahler, the New England cross country runner-up and has risen to become among the elite in the state. Bornstein’s time in the 1600m is now the state leading time in the event while his 3200m time is second in the state.

Brooke Strauss of Glastonbury pulled off another incredible triple at the CCC Championship on Saturday. She went against Conard’s Tess Sherry in the 1000m as they both broke Sarah Gillespie’s meet record while running the top two times in the state. Sherry won in 2:54.12 with Strauss a step behind in 2:54.71. Strauss returned to push Kate Bohlke to another meet record in the 1600m and she finished 2nd again in PR of 5:01.92. The third event was the charm for Strauss who came away with the win in the 3200m with a time of 11:20.01. The junior contributed 26 points to her team’s winning score.
