Badgers wrap up weekend slate

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin men’s and women’s track and field teams sent three Badgers to two separate meets this weekend. Kiley Robbins and Giovanni Wearing competed at the New Mexico Classic, while Madison Mooney was out east competing at the Boston University Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Open on Saturday.

Graduate student Madison Mooney headlined the competition this weekend in Boston as she ran a personal best time of 4 minutes, 35.60 seconds in the mile, earning herself a sixth-place finish. Mooney’s time also places her second on UW’s all-time indoor list, being the first Badger to break the 4:40.00 mark since the 2020 season. The Bloomfield, Colorado native is now ranked second in the Big Ten Conference this season.

Kiley Robbins was back competing for the second day in New Mexico, running a season-best time of 7.34 seconds in the 60-meter dash preliminary race. That time ties Robbins for fourth in the Big Ten in the event.

Giovanni Wearing continued his strong run of form with a fourth-place finish in the men’s 60-meter hurdle. The sophomore recorded his second-best time of the season, finishing in 7.76 seconds. He also placed fifth in the preliminary race, crossing the line at 7.90.
