CLEMSON, S.C. – The Illinois men’s and women’s track and field teams completed the final day of the Tiger Paw Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 10).

Freshman pole vaulter Cody Johnston improved his program’s seventh-best mark by two centimeters to 5.38m (17-7 3/4) in his second place finish. Junior Jessica McDowell clocked the program’s eighth fastest 200m (23.77) where she placed 26th.

Freshman Rose Yeboah tied her personal-best and school record high jump, 1.88m (6-2), she placed second in the invitational section today. Junior Bara Sajdokova placed fourth, 1.85m (6-0 3/4). Graduate student Taylor Beard won the open section with a season-best clearance, 1.75m (5-8 3/4).

Junior Darja Sopova placed third in the triple jump invitational, 13.18m (43-3). Juniors Kam Garrett and Jackson Marseille tied for fifth in the men’s high jump, clearing 2.10m (6-10 3/4).

Senior Tyler Sudduth placed fifth in the shot put invitational, 18.67m (61-3), followed by his teammate fellow senior Will Rezny in sixth place, 18.03m (59-2). Sophomore Viktor Morozov fell one centimeter short of tying his college-best mark in the triple jump; he placed sixth today with a season-best leap of 15.92m (52-2 3/4).

The women’s 4x400m relay team of Jessica McDowell, Madison Hardamon, Asia Thomas and Azariyah Bryant placed 11th with season-best time (3:37.82). The men’s 4x400m relay team of Jackson Gilbert, Tadeas Placek, Robert Williams and Michail Rose also clocked a season-best (3:11.08), they placed 13th.

UP NEXT

The Illini track and field teams return to action on Feb. 23-24 for the Big Ten Indoor Championships in Geneva, Ohio.
