Pittman, Walsh Named PNC Achievers of the Week

PITTSBURGH – Softball’s Kyra Pittman and Men’s Track & Field’s Finn Walsh were named the PNC Achievers of the Week.

Kyra Pittman made her Panthers’ debut with two starts in the circle at the LSU Invitational. Pittman finished the weekend with a 2.52 ERA and two strikeouts. Against Memphis, Pittman threw 18 strikes in her first 25 pitches and took a no-hitter into the bottom of the fourth inning. The Cumberland, Md. allowed just three hits with two strikeouts in 5.0 shutout innings.

Junior Finn Walsh secured a share of the men’s mile school record, as he registered a time of 4:00.14 at the Boston University David Hemery Valentine Invitational, tying the record that Sam Bair has held since 2006. Out of 385 entries, Walsh finished in 45^th place. The Kent Island, Md. native erased over three seconds from his previous personal best time which was set just two weeks prior.
