USC track and field athletes won three events at the Arkansas Qualifier held at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Ark. and Jasmine Jones set the Trojan women’s 60m hurdles record at the USATF Indoor Championships held at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Alburquerque, N.M. today (Feb. 16).
At The Arkansas Qualifier:
- Travis Williams won the men’s 60m dash title and tied a personal best with a time of 6.59. That time moved him to seventh on USC’s all-time list. He posted a time of 6.66 in the prelims and Justin Braun had a time of 6.67 in the prelims, but did not run in the final. Williams is now tied for ninth on the NCAA indoor descending order list. Braun already sits tied for fifth on the descending order list with his time of 6.55 run at the Spokane Showcase.
- Madison Whyte won the women’s 200m dash with a time of 23.01 and Jassani Carter placed third with a time of 23.19.
- Elias Gerald won the men’s high jump with a clearance of 7-0.50 (2.15m).
- Max Thomas placed second in the men’s 200m dash with a season-best time of 20.75 and Justin Braun placed third with a PR of 20.79.
- Johnnie Blockburger placed third in the men’s 400m dash with a PR of 46.20. He moved from 10th to ninth on USC’s all-time indoor list. Blockburger also moved to tied for 19th on the NCAA descending order list.
At The USATF Indoor Championships:
- Jasmine Jones placed second in the women’s 60m hurdles final with a personal-best and school-record time of 7.78. Jones qualified for the finals by running 7.82 in the prelims, which also broke the previous school record held by Virginia (Powell) Crawford of 7.84 set in 2005. Jones now has the fastest collegiate time in the 60m hurdles this indoor season.
- Johnny Brackins Jr. had a time of 7.66 to place 10th in the men’s 60m hurdles.
Samirah Moody will be competing in the women’s 60m dash tomorrow at the USATF Indoor Championships.
