Pole Vault – 15′ 6″ – Liam Wright, Wm. Hall, West Hartford

Former record – 15′ 4″ – Joseph Fogarasi – Windham 2014

The only meet record was set by Hall senior Liam Wright in the pole vault. He set his lifetime PR of 15-6 to break Joe Fogarasi’s ten-year-old record by two inches on his first attempt. As the meet ended on the track a small group of athletes, coaches and fans then watched as he attempted to surpass Fogarasi and Chris Rough’s CT Indoor State record of 15-10 with three attempts at 15-10.5. While Wright didn’t clear that height, he will have further chances at a meet at Ocean Breeze next weekend and at New Balance Nationals in Boston. His clearance not only moves him up into the top 20 nationally, it ties him with outdoor state record holder Tim Murphy as the 4th best indoor vaulter in CT history.

Pole Vault – 15′ 0″ – Liam Wright, Wm. Hall, West Hartford

Former record – 14′ 6″ – Chris Rough – Westhill – 2015

Hall’s two wins came from state leaders Liam Wright in the pole vault and Joe Nham in the 55m hurdles. Wright entered the competition after everyone else was done and tied Chris Rough’s meet record of 14-6. He then extended the record and became the 15th CT vaulter to clear 15-0. But then during the 300m competition, all eyes were on Wright as he made three solid attempts at 15-10.5 trying to surpass the current state record held by Rough and Joseph Fogarasi from 2015. While Wright came up short, his hips were over the bar on the first attempt and with a few adjustments there is a real chance for a new CT state record could be set this season.
