BOSTON – Two Illinois weight throwers, senior Tyler Sudduth and graduate student Amber Simpson from the No. 22 men’s and No. 16 women’s field teams, respectively, completed the first day of the NCAA Indoor Championships on Thursday (March 7).
Sudduth placed 13th in the men’s weight throw competition with a mark of 21.48m (70-5 3/4). He recorded the mark on his first throw but followed with fouls on his next two attempts and did not advance to the finals.
Simpson also placed 13th in the weight throw competition with a mark of 20.72m (67-11 3/4). Like Sudduth, her first throw proved to be her best, but was not enough to advance to the finals. Simpson fouled on her second throw and recorded a mark of 20.50m (67-3 1/4) in her third attempt.
